    about

    movesoupe.

My name is Mary and all this..

has grown from the seed of possibility, of which guided my own healing journey.

My practice became an everyday reality when my body gave an out a loud....”listen to to me!"

Not once or twice but an echoing internal gnawing of a noise that kept coming for me.

The slow build first called, with a nasty fall from my bike head over the handle bars, head, neck, and tail. Bam!

The fall was one thing but it was almost like it just opened a doorway of feeling which rooted deep, th noise became more constant, the pain got more tangled up in frustration solitude and desperation. The fear of this noise of pain would initiate dark layers of lonely and lost. With red flags jabs, suggestions of back surgery, the anxiety and melancholy which came along for the ride, took every part and piece of the me. And  then of course the immune system which then wanted to join in making a louder cry again.

    I listened. I heard.

I ran from the doctors surgery thinking one more chance give it a go find a little spark of self to build a flame. How do I claim back self.

    So I studied, I read, I listened.

I took back my body with the discipline of practice I toyed with before, however now my curiosity had a focus it didn't before, practice became necessity, a self maintain.

This time was different. Not at all the same.

Yoga was the only thing which lit me up, the time the pain got quieter or wasn't the same, I could move through…,and it was gradual, it was kind. A slow shifting, a witnessing a banging on the pipes of self feeding the negative feels with a positive possibility. And humbling it was it did not come with ease but I had a trust a trust of what it brought.

A few times a week turned into nearly every day; my go-to, my release, the sweet place, the practice took root. Slowly I began to believe in myself probably more than I ever knew I could.

Yoga, Pilates, Breathwork, Meditation; I found a tool belt of practice, a learning, an education , and then I saw the seed for what it could be.

Yoga in all the guises I found  became the soup for my mind, body and soul.

The transformative power of yoga, is a very real possibility to nourish, to change, to grow.

My wish to share all of this possibility in you as far as you would like to go, To let you witness you own growth feels and finds.

A practice, a something to see yourself with a new perspective, a new light, a new breath,

    The teacher’s learning

“What was your yoga journey, which path did you take,… your teaching is different“

I have often heard this from perspective of student and those curious to teach…

    Yoga a practice, a learning, a connection.

Passed down from time honoured yogis, nadis, gurus, practitioners, across lands, travelled the seas, reached for from book shelves, offered in households, ashrams, studios, living rooms.

Rippled out in every direction; shared, digested, re-processed, explored. From the traditional, to the unconventional. The disciplines styles of practice endlessly available; hatha, vinyasa, bikram, rocket, embodied, somatic. And it keeps growing, spreading, re-forming, adapting, fusing each teacher bringing there experience energy language, there is a Yoga for everyone.
Always evolving but the root respected;  the same loving kindness, connect, returning to the mat the breath, the body, the mind.

My journey as a teacher; the growing, the study, the learning, the sharing. I appreciated the nuance of what my body needed not just one type, more than sun salutations, more than gentle flows,  more than just strength.

Growing up my movement had been dance and gymnastics.

Whilst qualifying in Body Massage the anatomy and physiology content switched on and  developed respect of we are more than the surface, feels and finds.

When I chose to learn to teach  yoga, I wanted to find teachers who explored creative expression through classes enjoying the fluidity, grace sequencing but also content heavy on anatomy  and physiology. So much of my own practice had been for recovery, training and finding awareness, confidence, understanding for managing pain.

My teachers Meghan Currie, Erin Kelly, Steph Gongora and Bianca Scalise.

I initially planned to study with the mainstream schools. However something was saying wait…Having studied with Meghan for five years I was hooked and it wanted to learn more like this. I found previous students of hers practiced with them before investing, and what gems of thoroughness and caring encouragement  I found.

I went on to study and qualify as a yoga teacher with Authentic Movements 200hr in 2022,

I long hauled it deep diving into all the pearls they had to offer deepening my practice time with the information the lessons exploring.

Then I continued study with same school 300hr completing in 2023.

Still learining growing and loving it all the way. So far I have since completed teacher trainings  in Breathwork, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Somatics and Pilates Mat.
I am registered  with Yoga Alliance.

In this current vibration of aesthetics, simulation putting in boxes, there is always going to be noise of what is, what is not, who’s is best, most, how it should be!

I suggest maybe we remember from where it came. The origin, the sharing, the gratitude for the teachers, and the teacher’s teacher’s. Always learning always growing everyone with a different story a different voice. For this why should it stay the same, be the same.

No two leaves are indentical and what good would that be for a beautiful tree!

Enjoy the perspective being challenged take in the view and all the feels you find. This is your journey enjoy the path you find.
